The Presepe Vivente di San Damiano d’Asti is a traditional living Nativity that transforms the historic centre of the town into an atmospheric journey through the story of Christmas. Ancient courtyards, narrow streets and historic cellars become scenes inspired by Bethlehem, Nazareth and the world of the Nativity.

More than 100 costumed participants bring the setting to life as craftsmen, shepherds, travellers, soldiers and biblical characters. Visitors follow a route through a series of reconstructed scenes, encountering traditional crafts and moments of everyday life before reaching the Nativity itself.

The event has been held every December for more than 15 years and is considered one of the most beautiful and popular living Nativity scenes in Piedmont. Rather than a traditional stage performance, it is an immersive walk through a “living” Christmas village, particularly suitable for families.

In 2026, the Living Nativity Scene in San Damiano d'Asti will take place on December 6, 8, 13, and 20, from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM. On those same days, it will also be possible to visit the Christmas Market in the historic center.

Admission is completely free, and no advance booking or ticket purchase is required.
