Presepi sull’Acqua is one of the most distinctive Christmas events in Valle Antigorio. Every year, Crodo and its mountain hamlets are transformed into an extended open-air route featuring more than 70 Nativity scenes created by local residents and artisans.

The defining feature of the event is the connection between each installation and water. The Nativity scenes are placed in stone fountains, historic public washhouses, beside streams and around other water features. Alongside traditional representations of the Nativity, visitors can discover contemporary, experimental and unexpected creations.

The route extends beyond Crodo itself into the surrounding mountain villages, rising from around 500 metres above sea level in Crodo to roughly 1,200 metres in the Alpe Foppiano area. The displays can be visited 24 hours a day, and the route is especially atmospheric in the evening, when the illuminated Nativity scenes are reflected in the water. Admission is free. Depending on the year, the programme may also include guided visits, music, workshops and gastronomic activities.
